MoodLens

Concept:

A real-time iPhone camera filter that changes hue based on the input temperature of the user's hand (like a mood ring).

Parts:

- HiJack (Seeed Studio)

- TEMP (Freetronics)

- iPhone 4 or 4S

Casing:
- Perfboard

- 3D Printed iPhone Case

- Ring/Holder
- LEDs (decoration)

Proof of Concept:

Sketches:

Challenges:

- Data transmission to iPhone and power harvest to TEMP sensor (hardware)

- Real-time performance and noise reduction (software)

- Making the device small and comfortable enough to fit on the back of the iPhone (interaction design)

Timeline:

Deadlines...
- 08/04: Code camera filter app (I have previous and extensive experience in this area) (@ Home)
- 08/07: Wire up electronics and achieve data transmission to iPhone (Simple two-component circuit) (@ Packard 130)

- 08/13: Create casing for hardware (3D-print iPhone case/holder) (@ Room 36)

- 08/14: DEMO
- 08/16: PRESENTATION

- 08/18: DOCUMENTATION

Plan B:

- Use an external power source

- Measure ambient temperature

- Simplify the hardware casing (e.g. no ring)
