Make your device
I am making a LED fader mood lamp that also contains a digital alarm clock. The top dome light diffuser also doubles as the snooze button.

did you draw your sketches on paper and then scan them? or are those drawn on the computer..?

Nice use of the RGB leds! What did you end up doing for your "spanning the RGB cube" algorithm? can you post the code?
